Maintaining a reliable motorcycle will keep a bike in tip top shape for many, many years if it's done right. And if you keep a schedule and do most repairs at home, this won't be an expensive hobby.

About once monthly or approximately 1,000 miles you need to check the following.
• Spark plugs and replace if necessary

• Control level pilots for lubrication
Every 5,000 miles or once every six months you should..
• Change the oil and its filter
• Swap air filters
• Check your wheels and steering head bearings, and grease them if necessary.
• Check for leakage in your exhaust system
And finally, every year or about every 10,000 miles you should replace your spark plugs and check your suspension system for linkages. If you have to, replace the linkage, bearings, and your bushes. It is essential, to keep up your motorcycle parts. Not only is it dangerous to ride around with old and rusty parts, but its just not stylish. Maintaining a motorcycle does not take much money at all. All you need to do is spend some time with it in your own garage and do the necessary check ups every so miles.
